Regarding the Impact of the Kumamoto Earthquake and the Resumption of Operations

We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected by the earthquake that struck the Kumamoto region on Tuesday, July 28. We sincerely pray for the swift recovery and reconstruction of the affected communities.

The earthquake also affected our subsidiary, Ohta Foundry Co., Ltd. From the outset, the highest priority was confirming the safety of employees and their families. At the same time, recovery efforts were carried out through the united efforts of our employees, business partners, suppliers, and repair contractors while inspecting the condition of facilities and buildings.

Timeline to the Resumption of Operations
July 28 – Safety Confirmation
Confirmed the safety of employees and their families.
July 29 – Damage Assessment
Inspected facilities and buildings for damage.
Confirmed the restoration of the water supply.
Confirmed the restoration of electrical power.
Dispatched support personnel from our company to establish a recovery system.
July 30 – August 2 – Equipment Recovery and Backup Production
Conducted detailed inspections of facilities and buildings.
Began full-scale recovery work in cooperation with repair contractors.
Transported production molds to our company and commenced backup production to help ensure a continuous supply of products to our customers.
July 31 – Equipment Verification
Conducted a test melt using the electric furnace to verify equipment safety and product quality.
August 2 – Operations Resumed (Night Shift)

After thoroughly confirming the safety of the equipment and working environment, operations resumed with the night shift on Sunday, August 2, five days after the earthquake.

This resumption of operations was made possible not only through the dedication of every employee, but also through the generous support and cooperation of our business partners, suppliers, repair contractors, and many others. We sincerely appreciate everyone's support.

Although operations have resumed, the situation in the affected area remains uncertain.

We will continue to place the highest priority on the safety of our employees and their families while maintaining thorough safety checks during operations. At the same time, we will continuously review and strengthen our disaster preparedness efforts to ensure the safe and stable supply of our products.
